It is highly encouraged this distance learning be completed prior to the ‘live’ training. Information on how to begin the distance learning will be e-mailed to the participant within 2-weeks of registration. Be sure to watch for this to be sent to your registration email as your email system may place it in your junk/spam when it is received. \n\n\n\nLearning Objectives: \n\n\n\n\nBecome familiar with the primary medications associated with the treatment of substance use disorder\n\n\n\nDevelop an understanding of the role that medication can play in an individual’s recovery process from substance use disorder\n\n\n\nIncrease ability to use treatment matching principles for individuals in recovery from substance use disorders\n\n\n\nBecome familiar with a variety of recovery supports available to individuals’ entering recovery from substance use disorders\n\n\n\nProvide an overview of professional responsibilities in providing medication assisted treatment\n\n\n\nDevelop a connection with other professionals working in the medication assisted treatment community\n\n\n\n\nThis course provides 6 CEU’s for all who complete the course. CEU’s are provided pursuant to Indiana Administrative Code 839IAC 1-6-2(F)(86). \n\n\n\nThis training is required for the ICAADA MATS credential\, however a person can attend and not obtain the credential. DESCRIPTION:This course explores the skills\, understanding\, & knowledge needed to provide effective\, ethical & person-centered substance use counseling \n\n\n\nThis course is designed to familiarize the participant with the eight practice dimensions necessary for effective performance as an addiction counselor: \n\n\n\n\nclinical evaluation\n\n\n\ntreatment planning\n\n\n\nreferral\n\n\n\nservice coordination\n\n\n\ncounseling\n\n\n\nclient\, family and community education\n\n\n\ndocumentation\n\n\n\nprofessional and ethical responsibilities.\n\n\n\n\nThese dimensions along with their associated 12 core competencies\, as defined by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)\, are the established national standards for addiction counseling practice. \n\n\n\nThese standards are also utilized by state and national addictions counselor certification/license examinations. In this course\, the student will develop entry level knowledge and skills across the eight practice dimensions that will help ready them to enter the addictions counseling field. \n\n\n\nLEARNING OBJECTIVES \n\n\n\n• Identify and describe the eight practice dimensions of addiction counseling \n\n\n\n• Identify three service challenges and three potential service opportunities of each dimension \n\n\n\n• List one skill associated with each dimension \n\n\n\n• Describe how each dimension has at least one link to another dimension for the continuity of care. \n\n\n\nCEU Information: \n\n\n\nThis course provides 6 CEU’s. DESCRIPTION:This course is intended to introduce the participant to drug administration\, absorption\, movement\, and drug-receptor interactions. \n\n\n\nOveriew \n\n\n\nThis course will provide the learner with an introductory knowledge on the psychopharmacology of substance use disorders through online interactive learning experiences. In addition to the learning objectives\, attendees will explore how the information shared in each learning module directly impacts their current professional role\, as well as how gaining basic knowledge in the psychopharmacology of substance use disorder helps them to provide effective services to the individuals and their families. \n\n\n\nLEARNING OBJECTIVES \n\n\n\n\nDevelop a basic knowledge of the neuroanatomy and neurochemical mechanisms impacted by substance use​\n\n\n\nGain a general overview of the neurocircuitry model of addiction​\n\n\n\nDevelop basic knowledge of psychoactive substances\, chemical classifications\, and the increase of designer drugs​.​\n\n\n\nIncreas awareness of tolerance\, withdrawal\, and unique risk factors associated with major classifications of psychoactive substances\n\n\n\n\nCEU Information: \n\n\n\nThis course provides 6 CEU’s. CEU’s are Category 1 CEU provided byIndiana State statute 839IAC 1-6-2(F)(86) \n\n\n\nAdditional Information: \n\n\n\nThis course meets education hours required for all ICAADA CADAC credentials. More information onICAADA CADAC and ACIT credential requirements can be found here: https://icaada.org/credentials-2/.
