DESCRIPTION:This course provides detailed education realted to the medications that are used to support treatment and recovery from substance use issues \n\n\n\nThis three-day interactive training provides participants with a detailed understanding of medication used to assist with substance use disorders. 35 hours of distance (on-line) learning is a component of this course that is provided with admission purchase. It is highly encouraged this distance learning be completed prior to the ‘live’ training. \n\n\n\nLEARNING OBJECTIVES \n\n\n\n• • Analyze the impact of substance use disorders (SUDs) and the opioid overdose crisis on individuals\, families\, and communities.​ \n\n\n\n• Apply the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria to identify SUDs in clinical scenarios.​ \n\n\n\n• Differentiate biological signs\, symptoms\, and risk factors associated with SUD. \n\n\n\n• Evaluate the role of FDA-approved medications in supporting recovery from SUDs.​ \n\n\n\n• Critique the stigma surrounding FDA-approved medications used in the treatment of SUDs.​ \n\n\n\n• Compare and contrast current FDA-approved medications for SUDs in terms of clinical uses\, side effects\, contraindications\, and treatment courses.​ \n\n\n\n• Integrate knowledge of MAT phases with supportive counseling strategies to optimize client outcomes.​ \n\n\n\n• Begin to demonstrate counseling skills that improve MAT outcomes through role-play or practice activities. \n\n\n\nApply ethical principles to real-world ethical dilemmas related to MAT. \n\n\n\nCEU Information: \n\n\n\nThis course provides 18 CEU’s for the instructor-led portion and 35 CEU for the self-paced portion. CEU’s are Category 1 CEU provided by Indiana State statute 839IAC 1-6-2(F)(86) \n\n\n\nAdditional Information: \n\n\n\nThis course meets the education hours required for the ICAADA MATS credentials.
