DESCRIPTION:This six-hour training provides an overview of the skills needed to provide exceptional group counseling in mental health and substance use \n\n\n\nDescription: \n\n\n\nThis six-hour training provides an overview of the skills needed to provide exceptional group counseling in mental health and substance use settings. \n\n\n\nLearning Objectives: \n\n\n\n\nDifferentiate between psychoeducational\, process\, skills-based\, and relapse prevention groups.\n\n\n\nApply at least three core facilitation skills (reflection\, validation\, redirection) in a group setting.\n\n\n\nIdentify the stages of group development and appropriate clinical responses.\n\n\n\nImplement evidence-based modalities (CBT\, MI\, DBT) within group counseling.\n\n\n\nDocument group sessions in a manner that demonstrates medical necessity and compliance.\n\n\n\nManage common group challenges using trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches.\n\n\n\nAlign group interventions with ASAM dimensions and treatment planning goals.\n\n\n\n\nCEU Information: \n\n\n\nThis course provides 6 CEU’s. CEU’s are Category 1 CEU provided by Indiana State statute 839IAC 1-6-2(F)(86) \n\n\n\nRegistration information provided as part of this course may be used by MHAI for various purposes\, including reporting to state agencies and other accreditation and/or funding sources.

DESCRIPTION:This course provides detailed education realted to the medications that are used to support treatment and recovery from substance use issues \n\n\n\nThis three-day interactive training provides participants with a detailed understanding of medication used to assist with substance use disorders. 35 hours of distance (on-line) learning is a component of this course that is provided with admission purchase. It is highly encouraged this distance learning be completed prior to the ‘live’ training. \n\n\n\nLEARNING OBJECTIVES \n\n\n\n• • Analyze the impact of substance use disorders (SUDs) and the opioid overdose crisis on individuals\, families\, and communities.​ \n\n\n\n• Apply the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria to identify SUDs in clinical scenarios.​ \n\n\n\n• Differentiate biological signs\, symptoms\, and risk factors associated with SUD. \n\n\n\n• Evaluate the role of FDA-approved medications in supporting recovery from SUDs.​ \n\n\n\n• Critique the stigma surrounding FDA-approved medications used in the treatment of SUDs.​ \n\n\n\n• Compare and contrast current FDA-approved medications for SUDs in terms of clinical uses\, side effects\, contraindications\, and treatment courses.​ \n\n\n\n• Integrate knowledge of MAT phases with supportive counseling strategies to optimize client outcomes.​ \n\n\n\n• Begin to demonstrate counseling skills that improve MAT outcomes through role-play or practice activities. \n\n\n\nApply ethical principles to real-world ethical dilemmas related to MAT. \n\n\n\nCEU Information: \n\n\n\nThis course provides 18 CEU’s for the instructor-led portion and 35 CEU for the self-paced portion. CEU’s are Category 1 CEU provided by Indiana State statute 839IAC 1-6-2(F)(86) \n\n\n\nAdditional Information: \n\n\n\nThis course meets the education hours required for the ICAADA MATS credentials. More information on ICAADA MATS credential requirements can be found here: https://icaada.org/credentials-2/ . This course can be used as continuing education hours for all ICAADA credentials. 35 hours of distance (on-line) learning is a component of this course that is provided with admission purchase. This distance learning must be completed prior to the instructor-led 3-day course. Completing the distance learning will assist with understanding the instructor-led 3-day course. Information on how to begin/complete the distance learning will be e-mailed to the participant within 2 weeks of registration.
