Join us at the 2026 Mental Health and Addiction Symposium on November 13th, 2026, at the Indianapolis Marriott East, as we celebrate and honor the true Heroes for Recovery. This annual event, hosted by Mental Health America of Indiana, recognizes those who have made extraordinary contributions to the behavioral health profession and those with behavioral health conditions. It’s an opportunity to express our deep gratitude to these Heroes and their families.
Each nominee will receive a congratulatory certificate of recognition. A distinguished panel of those involved with the award categories will select the Heroes to be honored during the Heroes for Recovery Luncheon, a key feature of the Mental Health and Addiction Symposium on November 13th, 2026.
Please remember that you can nominate multiple individuals within a single category. To ensure that each nominee is properly considered, kindly complete a separate form for each individual or group. Nominations will be accepted until September 20th, 2026, and award winners will be notified after all submissions are reviewed and awards are decided.

2026 Indiana Mental Health & Addiction Symposium – Heroes for Recovery Distinguished Speaker
We are honored to welcome Alfarena (Alfie) McGinty as our distinguished speaker for the Heroes for Recovery Awards Ceremony at the 2026 Indiana Mental Health & Addiction Symposium. Alfie brings both extensive professional experience and a deep personal connection to the work of supporting individuals, families, and communities impacted by addiction, loss, and recovery.

This award is to showcase the work of the amazing behavioral health advocates across Indiana who are ensuring behavioral health is a focus in Indiana.
MHAI Heroes for Recovery: ICAADA Recovery Coach of the Year
This award is to showcase the work of the amazing, certified recovery coaches across Indiana who are ensuring person-centered, evidence-based support is provided to all Hoosiers
MHAI Heroes for Recovery: Behavioral Health Professional of the Year
This award is the work of the amazing behavioral health professionals across Indiana who are ensuring supportive, evidence-based care is provided to all Hoosiers.
MHAI Heroes for Recovery: Recovery Network Peer Run Organization of the Year
This award is to showcase the work of the amazing peer-run organizations across Indiana who are ensuring safe and supportive recovery support services are available for those in their recovery/wellness journey.
MHAI Heroes for Recovery: Behavioral Health Team of the Year
This award is to showcase the work of the amazing teams across Indiana who are ensuring supportive, evidence-based care is provided to all Hoosiers.
MHAI Heroes for Recovery: INARR Recovery Residence of the Year
This award is to showcase the work of the amazing recovery residences across Indiana who are ensuring safe and supportive housing is provided for those in recovery
