This six-hour training provides an overview of the skills needed to provide exceptional group counseling in mental health and substance use settings.
Learning Objectives:
- Differentiate between psychoeducational, process, skills-based, and relapse prevention groups.
- Apply at least three core facilitation skills (reflection, validation, redirection) in a group setting.
- Identify the stages of group development and appropriate clinical responses.
- Implement evidence-based modalities (CBT, MI, DBT) within group counseling.
- Document group sessions in a manner that demonstrates medical necessity and compliance.
- Manage common group challenges using trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches.
- Align group interventions with ASAM dimensions and treatment planning goals.

This course provides 6 CEU’s. CEU’s are Category 1 CEU provided by Indiana State statute 839IAC 1-6-2(F)(86)
