This course provides detailed education realted to the medications that are used to support treatment and recovery from substance use issues
This three-day interactive training provides participants with a detailed understanding of medication used to assist with substance use disorders. 35 hours of distance (on-line) learning is a component of this course that is provided with admission purchase. It is highly encouraged this distance learning be completed prior to the ‘live’ training.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
• • Analyze the impact of substance use disorders (SUDs) and the opioid overdose crisis on individuals, families, and communities.
• Apply the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria to identify SUDs in clinical scenarios.
• Differentiate biological signs, symptoms, and risk factors associated with SUD.
• Evaluate the role of FDA-approved medications in supporting recovery from SUDs.
• Critique the stigma surrounding FDA-approved medications used in the treatment of SUDs.
• Compare and contrast current FDA-approved medications for SUDs in terms of clinical uses, side effects, contraindications, and treatment courses.
• Integrate knowledge of MAT phases with supportive counseling strategies to optimize client outcomes.
• Begin to demonstrate counseling skills that improve MAT outcomes through role-play or practice activities.
Apply ethical principles to real-world ethical dilemmas related to MAT.
CEU Information:
This course provides 18 CEU’s for the instructor-led portion and 35 CEU for the self-paced portion. CEU’s are Category 1 CEU provided by Indiana State statute 839IAC 1-6-2(F)(86)

This course meets the education hours required for the ICAADA MATS credentials. More information on ICAADA MATS credential requirements can be found here: https://icaada.org/credentials-2/ . This course can be used as continuing education hours for all ICAADA credentials. 35 hours of distance (on-line) learning is a component of this course that is provided with admission purchase. This distance learning must be completed prior to the instructor-led 3-day course. Completing the distance learning will assist with understanding the instructor-led 3-day course. Information on how to begin/complete the distance learning will be e-mailed to the participant within 2 weeks of registration. Be sure to watch for this to be sent to your registration email as your email system may place it in your junk/spam when it is received. It will be sent by the Connecticut Certification Board
Registration information provided as part of this course may be used by MHAI for various purposes, including reporting to state agencies and other accreditation and/or funding sources.
